THIS IS ME
“You Ain’t Gotta Be Ashamed,” declares Adia. With her fingerprint on some of gospel’s biggest hits in the last couple of years, Stellar Award Winning Singer-Songwriter and Vocal Arranger, Adia, is taking the gospel music industry by storm.
Growing up in a family where music was a constant, soul-bearing singer, “Adia,” born Destiny Adia Andrews, has known music her entire life. Adia’s parents are writers and musicians who exposed her to the world of music at an early age. By the time she was four years old, she was already singing solos at her local church, and by elementary school, writing and recording entire songs at her father’s studio.
After graduating high school, Adia decided to pursue a professional career in the music industry. Adia released her premier single “Incomplete” via Emerged Records in 2012. The song was the second leading single on the soundtrack of gospel artist, Deitrick Haddon’s film, “A Beautiful Soul” which charted at #10 on Billboard top 100. Adia later signed a record deal with Xist Music, an urban division of Malaco Records and home to gospel legends Bebe Winans, CeCe Winans, and Tina Campbell, where she released her first studio album, Behind Enemy Lines, which went on to chart at number thirty-eight on Billboard.
In 2018, the acclaimed singer-songwriter partnered with producer and production partner, Marqus Curtis to create an organic, culture-shifting body of work she believed would re-establish her presence in the faith-based music community, “Frontline,” the EP. The leading single “God Took His Time” was an anthem promoting self-love and confidence and went on to become a viral hit used in thousands of reels on Instagram. This song grabbed the attention of 11x Stellar Award Winner, Pastor Mike Jr.
“Working with Pastor Mike Jr. has been a dream come true,” says now 3x Stellar Award-Winning singer-songwriter, Adia. Some of their recent accolades include; “Amazing” charting at #1 on Billboard and winning the Stellar Award’s Inspirational Single/Performance of the year. “We also won the Stellar Awards, Album of the Year and Contemporary Album of the Year which was mind-blowing because we were just having fun when we created that body of work,” says Adia.
In addition to collaborating with Pastor Mike Jr., Adia has shared the stage with some of Gospel and Christian Contemporary Music’s (CCM) biggest giants in recent years such as; Elevation Worship (“The Blessing, The Gospel Revamp” and “Old Church Basement” live recording with Elevation and Maverick City Music), Kierra Sheard Kelly (“Kierra” and “Kierra Live at Praise in the Park) and Karen Clark Sheard to name a few.
Adia now travels the world as a vocal arranger and professional background vocalist for mainstream artists like Jorja Smith, Ella Mai, and Stormzy in addition to writing and producing for Kierra Sheard and Pastor Mike Jr.’s upcoming projects.
Despite all of her recent success as a songwriter, Adia is determined to make her presence known as an artist with her Chicago House-inspired break-out single, “You Ain’t”. “My prayer is that listeners will feel God’s love, be liberated from their shame, and be encouraged to walk in joy, boldness, and freedom,” says Adia.
“You Ain’t” is available now on all streaming platforms.
